#4 Developmental Stages
Question 1:Think in terms of Erikson's stages of psychosocial development. How do you believe you are progressing in the stage of "identity vs. role confusion"? Do you think you will overcome this "crisis"? How might overcoming this crisis have a positive impact on your life? How might failing to overcome this crisis have a negative impact on your life?
- During the stage of adolescence, we, adolescents face physical growth, sexual maturation, and integrating ideas of ourselves. I believe i am at the ending stage of this as such changes, physical growth, sexual maturation, and integrating ideas . I think I will overcome this well and lead me to the next Erikson's stage of psychosocial development as long as I overcome this successfully. If I fail to do so, I might be unsatisfied with the changes I have gone through in this stage like physical changes and would affect very negatively throughout my life.
Question 2:Think in terms of Piaget's stages of cognitive development. Piaget says that some adults never reach the formal operational stage of development. Do you believe you have reached this stage? Why or why not?
- Piaget said that some adults never reach this formal operational stage of development where people can formulate hypotheses and solve them to get an answer by testing them out. I think I have reached this stage already because I am able to form hypothesis and solve it out. Also, I am able to think abstractly and solve a mathematical problem with an ease. Additionally I am able to give back ups for my arguments when given a statement. Therefore, I can say that I have reached this stage.

Question 3:Think in terms of Kohlberg's stages of moral development. What moral stage do you believe you typically belong in, and why? (Take into consideration your answer to Kohlberg's Heinz Dilemma).
- I believe I typically belong in Level 2- Conventional morality. In this level, it involves two stages which are stage 3 and 4. I belong to this stage because I always try to be seem as a good person by others. Also, I try to avoid any guilt by being broadly aware of the rules of society. Most importantly, I internalize the value of morality. Therefore, I think I typically belong in the stage of conventional morality.
Question 4:Think in terms of parenting styles. Of the four parenting styles, which one do you believe your parents follow most often? Why do you think so?
- Considering all four parenting styles, I think my parents follow permissive parent most often. Since, I have been living away from my parents for long time, they do not offer so much discipline to me. They are rather lenient on things that I do and only step in when it comes to a serious problem. Rather than performing their authority, they come to me friendly when they want to have a conversation. This might not be a perfect way to shape a child in a correct way. However, fortunately, I grew up with my sister and I am relatively in a good shape in terms of personality and health etc.
