Question 1:How do your personal life experiences and expectations influence your perceptions?
- Our perceptions are heavily influenced by our personal lifer experiences and expectations. We expect certain things to happen based on what we have seen, favored or experienced because it is human tendency. For instance, we form an illusion of certain objects when we desperately want although it is not physically there. This formation of illusion is due to perception greatly influenced by expectation. Such perceptions differ to all people as we have different experiences and expectations throughout our lives.
Question 2: Do we all live in the same reality, or is each person's reality different? Explain your thoughts on this.
- It is a controversial topic as answers to this can vary greatly. In my opinion, each person's reality is different. When you look around, you can see that people all behave differently . It is because they all have different perceptions . When people have different perceptions, how they define the reality will also differ. Moreover, there are special cases in which people have mental disorders or illness such as psychopathy. The way psychopaths look at things is obviously different ! Therefore, I believe each person's reality is different.
Question 3:Describe a time when your perception of reality was false. What were the consequences of this?
- Unfortunately, my close relative had passed away when I was twelve. Although I was young, it was a shocking news to me when i first heard. Then for the few days, I was telling my mum that I saw a similar person to the person who was dead on the street few times. Probably, my past experience and expectations have created an image of him after he passed away. Obviously it was a false image. He did not show up when I realized that it is not him anymore and that was the last time I saw him.
Question 4: How can perceptions cause your behavior to change?
- Our behavior depends on the perceptions we have. It is because how we view things differ and we make actions based on that. For instance, if you change your perceptions about existence of the certain things like ghosts, you will behave accordingly when it comes to an action related. Since perceptions have close relationship with beliefs that we have, our behavior will definitely change. Therefore, it concludes that perceptions cause our behavior to change.
